Sawmill/Sawing Lumber
When logs are sawn to length and all limbs trimmed closely, they can then be brought to the sawmill and set on the loading arms. Our mill is powered by a 67 horsepower diesel engine that runs two hydraulic pumps as well as the band wheels. This hydraulic power allows the loading arms to lift logs up to 8,000 lbs. onto the mill where it is then positioned by a hydraulically driven log turner. After positioning the log in the best orientation for the needed lumber, it is then clamped by the log clamps (dogs) and can be sawn to the needed dimensions and turned as needed to harvest the best quality or the best character lumber- whichever is the goal. Our mill is very high quality and capable of the highest accuracy achievable by any band sawmill, and we make it our priority to provide the best lumber available.
Drying Lumber
We have a Nyle L200 dehumidification kiln that is capable of drying 2,000 board feet of slow drying species like oak or 1500 board feet of fast drying species like pine or poplar by using the same principles of refrigeration that keeps us comfortable at home. The lumber is heated to allow water vapor to more readily exit the boards where it is then pulled across a cold coil and condensed into water and drained away. Drying is controlled by measuring the relative humidity in the kiln and adjusting how long the compressor runs. In this way, drying can be controlled very precisely to assure high quality lumber.
Pick Up/Delivery
We can pick up logs at the customer’s site if needed and deliver the lumber after sawing by using a 14 foot dump trailer or a 23 foot gooseneck trailer. We will, at times, cut up and remove logs from others’ property and pile the brush for a nominal fee or for the logs. We do not fell trees.
Light Excavation
With our Kubota B26 backhoe, we can do light excavation and underbrush clearing if needed. Hauling and delivering topsoil, mulch, or other products is also possible.
Pricing
Pricing is based on species, style of sawing (quartersawing,etc.), size of boards or beam or slabs and whether sold green, or kiln dried. Our prices will always be very competitive.
